Altar Linen Care

Help is also needed laundering the altar cloths, purificators, and corporals used at our celebration of the Eucharist. Can also use help with sewing.

Alb Care

Assist by cleaning and mending the albs worn by our Altar Servers.

Baptismal Garments

Assist by making white Baptismal garments for the children in our parish being baptized.

Social Concerns Committee

This committee looks at ways our parish can put faith in action through charitable works.

Respect Life Committee

This committee supports the Pastoral Plan for Pro-Life activities.

Blood Drive

We need volunteers to donate blood and help with the blood drive which is held 2 times per year.

Bread Runners

Drivers needed to help pick up and deliver bread from local restaurants/grocery stores to Catholic Charities.

Advent Giving Tree

During Advent, a tree is placed in the gathering space with ornaments with requests from different agencies. Need help with ornaments, setting up, collecting and delivering to agencies.

St. Dismas Prison Ministry

Ministers to those incarcerated in the Johnson County Correctional facility.

RaiseRight (formerly Scrip)

This is a parish-wide fundraising effort. Gift cards/certificates to local merchants are available for purchase after Masses each weekend and we receive a percentage of the purchase. Volunteers are needed at each Mass.

Bereavement Ministry

This ministry reaches out to parishioners during a time of loss due to the death of a loved one.

Minister of Communion to the Sick/Homebound

Take Holy Communion to those who are not able to come to Church.

Meals for the Sick

Provide meal support for families struggling due to illness.

Support our Sick Ministry

Phone calls to the sick. Parishioners to call the sick and offer encouragement and support.

Transportation to Mass

Parishioners needed to provide rides to Mass for parishioners who are unable to drive.

Prayer Shawls

We welcome anyone who would like to help knit or crochet prayer shawls for parishioners who are sick or homebound.

Garden Club

If you’ve got a green thumb, you might find a home with our garden club. These parishioners help care for all of the flowerbeds and landscape areas around the parish facilities.

Watering of Plants/Flowers

If you have a green thumb, help is needed caring for the flowers/plants in church and gathering space.

Upkeep of Parish Grounds

Do minor repairs and assist with upkeep of parish facilities/grounds. Help is needed with mowing and trimming, and snow removal. Contact parish manager John Meyers to volunteer: jmeyers@popolathe.org.

Parish Office Support

Assist with various office tasks: prepare bulk mailings, help stuff bulletin inserts, provide phone coverage, run copies, etc. M-F, during parish office hours. Contact parish secretary Linda Murray to volunteer: lmurray@popolathe.org

Meals for the Priests

Provide dinner for our priests.

St. Mary’s Food Kitchen

On the First Monday of each month, Prince of Peace serves a hot meal to the poor and disadvantaged in Kansas City. Parish members volunteer to prepare and serve the food.

Catholic Charities Food Truck

The Food Truck is here the 4th weekend of every month. In addition to food donations, we are also in need of help to accept food at the truck after the Masses. Contact Dave & Margie Greving to volunteer: mdgreving@gmail.com.

***Catholic Youth Organization (CYO) Coach

The mission of this athletic organization is to help youth grow in the image of Christ through athletic events.

*** All persons 16 and older must complete VIRTUS prior to volunteering with or around children.
