Respect Life Month and Month of the Rosary - October 3, 2021

October is Respect Life Month and also the month of the Rosary. This Sunday, Oct. 3 is Respect Life Sunday. As Catholics, we deeply value the dignity of all human life from its beginning at conception until its natural end. Yet, as you know not everyone in our society sees the issue as we do, and there are many threats to human life in our time. In addition, there has been lots of activity going on recently in government at both state and national levels. Life is not an issue where we can agree to disagree, to live and let live, because lives are at stake, and every abortion kills a child. We have to stand up for these innocent, pre-born children. So, we take action, advocate, pray, and seek to create a culture of life that supports and sustains all human persons, mothers, fathers, children, everyone!

This weekend have a message from Archbishop Naumann. In particular, I’m certain he will share about what is going on in Kansas. Kansas became one of the most pro-abortion states in the country after a 2019 ruling by the State Supreme Court discovered and created a nearly unlimited right to abortion in the Kansas Constitution. Even the most basic limits on the abortion industry are now “presumed unconstitutional.” Kansas is becoming a ‘haven state in the Midwest’ for unlimited abortion. But, we have the possibility of stopping this by the passage of the VALUE THEM BOTH state constitutional amendment on August 2, 2022. This weekend, we will have the distribution of VALUE THEM BOTH Action Cards so you can learn what you can do to help the passage of the amendment. In addition, there are many other events going on so please read about those in this bulletin or at www.archkck.org/prolife. This month of the Rosary, please pray for a greater respect for life and a change of hearts

On a different note, this month I’m hoping we will pray for each other in the parish. We will have all 2600 families’ names printed on cards that can be drawn. These names will be in a bin in the church vestibule. We ask that if you draw a name, you pray a rosary for them this month. If you have multiple people praying the Rosary, each person could pray for their own name. This way all 2600 families will have a rosary prayed for them! How awesome is that! And as a bonus, since we didn’t quite finish our parish mosaic project, if you do pray a rosary for a name, you can add an additional tile to the mosaic so we complete it. Prayer is powerful. The Rosary is powerful. Let’s pray for life and pray for each other.

Peace,
Fr. Greg
