Reflections on the 3rd Sunday of Easter - May 1, 2022

Today’s Gospel passage reflects on Jesus’ encounter with some of his disciples, after His death and resurrection, while at the Sea of Tiberias.  Simon Peter recognizes Him while out at sea when Jesus instructs them to cast their net one more time and it comes back so full that they cannot pull it aboard.  Jesus sits down with them once again and eats a meal.

Our songs this weekend reflect the Easter season that we are in with “Alleluia!  Alleluia! Let the Holy Anthem Rise” and “At the Lamb’s High Feast”, two strong hymns revealing the basic tenets of Christ’s Resurrection and victory over death.  The song at the preparation of the gifts recounts the Gospel passage as well as the other story of the two disciples encountering and recognizing Christ in the breaking of the bread.  Our second song at Communion recalls the Gospel passage with Christ at the seashore – only this time, He is wanting to encounter us and is waiting for us to respond to His call.  Have you answered His call?  Are you even listening for His call?
