Mission Impossible - October 22, 2023

Mission Impossible (But all things are possible for God)

Your mission, parishioners of Prince of Peace, should you choose to accept it, is as follows:

1. Support World Mission Sunday this Sunday 10/22
This Sunday we should pray for the Church’s missionary efforts. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith, one of four Pontifical Mission Societies was founded by French laywomen Blessed Pauline Jaricot in 1822. She was inspired by letters from her brother Phileas about the missions, so she gathered small groups —mostly workers from her family’s silk mill. She asked each member of the group to offer daily prayer and a weekly sacrifice of a sou (the equivalent of a penny at that time) for the Church’s worldwide missionary work. Pauline insisted that her efforts were meant to be directed at all the missions of the Universal Church. Out of Pauline’s vision, the Society for the Propagation of the Faith was born. The very first collection of the Propagation of the Faith in 1822 supported the vast diocese of Louisiana, which then extended from the Florida Keys to Canada, as well as the missions of Kentucky and China. The Society for the Propagation of the Faith continues to revive the missionary ardor of Christian communities and individual faithful through missions around the world, now present in 1,100 dioceses across Asia, Africa, the Pacific Islands, and in remote regions of Latin America. Throughout the years it is provided over $250 million in support of these missions.

2. Fall Festival - This Sunday 10/22 noon - 3pm.
Let’s pack the campus with people to enjoy tons of kids activities and stuff for adults—live music, food, and beverages.

3. ALMS
You should have received your ALMS mailing this week. Prayerful consider your support of POP’s mission and let’s get 100% response by returning the commitment cards next weekend 10/29.

4. Fill the Truck (next weekend 10/28-29)
This is our last monthly food drive until January! The Catholic Charities truck will be in the parking lot accepting donations 30 minutes before and after each Mass! The Hope Distribution Center is currently in more urgent need of the following:

  • Pasta Sauce (no glass jars, please)
  • Dry Pasta
  • Canned soups
  • Peanut Butter
  • Canned Beans (Black, Kidney, Pinto, Chili, Pork and Beans, etc.)
  • All non-perishable foods are welcome gifts!

As always, should you or any of your POP IM FORCE be caught, the Pastor will proudly approve of you and knowledge of your actions. This bulletin will self-destruct in ten seconds. God bless!

Peace,
Fr. Greg
