The Holy Spirit and Lots of Prayers - May 23, 2021

Happy Pentecost! Come Holy Spirit! Teach us to pray.

In the same way, the Spirit too comes to the aid of our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit itself intercedes with inexpressible groanings. And the one who searches hearts knows what is the intention of the Spirit, because it intercedes for the holy ones according to God’s will. (Romans 8:26–27)

If there is one thing our world needs more than anything, it is more prayer. We need it too. And there are lots of things for which we should pray. Always we need to pray for each other as a parish family. Let us pray for all our graduates and our youth as they head into summer.

Let us pray for those being ordained this weekend and next:
Transitional Deacons on May 22nd: Andrew Gaffney & Sudeep Kodigandla.
Priests on May 29th: Keith Chadwick, Luke Doyle, Thomas Maddock.

This is the time of year, actually last weekend, when priests announce their moves, and my guess is it all is in the Leaven this weekend. Nothing is changing here at Prince of Peace and we are very happy about that! We will be getting some new neighbor priests, and we look forward to working together with them. It is always worthy of prayer to pray for those transitions.

Let us also pray for good weather and a good celebration for the parish for our “Homecoming” weekend of June 5-6. And there is so much more, but I do not know how to pray as I ought, so I pray the Holy Spirit intercedes for us that we do God’s will. I conclude with my favorite prayer to the Holy Spirit.

Peace,
Fr. Greg

Prayer to the Holy Spirit by Cardinal Mercier
O Holy Spirit, beloved of my soul, I adore you. Enlighten me, guide me, strengthen me, console me. Tell me what I should do; give me your orders. I promise to submit myself to all that you desire of me and to accept all that you permit to happen to me. Let me only know your will. Amen.
