Religious Education Program Overview

Catechesis of the Good Shepherd

  • Catechesis of the Good Shepherd is being offered to children ages 3-6. We currently only have room for the first 12 students registered. Once 12 have registered we will start a waitlist. The current class is weekly on Mondays from 4-6 pm at Prince of Peace. We are trying to add other days/times.
Elementary SOR
  • Parents of 1-6th grade children will do some of the lessons at home with their children, responding weekly to Flocknote requests.
  • There will be family gatherings 1-2 times a month. Parents and students are expected to attend.
  • 1st-6th grade students in Year 2 of prep for 1st Reconciliation and 1st Holy Communion prep, as well as all students in Confirmation prep will have a $40 Activity fee to help pay for extra materials and supplies. This fee is in addition to the registration fee.
  • Each student in 1st-5th grades will need The Catholic Children’s Bible through Saint Mary’s Press. Lessons will be coming from that Bible translation and commentaries in that Bible. Any student that will be starting their first year of School of Religion with Prince of Peace will need to pay an additional $20 for a Bible.
Confirmation Prep
  • Confirmation prep at POP is a two-year program (typically 7th and 8th grade).  The program is designed to allow parents and students to more fully engage in their faith together.  Our goal is to support candidates on their spiritual journey and equip them with the tools they need to become lifelong disciples of Christ, better prepared to witness Jesus to the world.
