Eucharistic Revival - June 11, 2023

Happy Solemnity of the Body and Blood of Christ! We begin a year of Eucharistic Revival in the parish today. This is a national movement with the mission “To renew the Church by enkindling a living relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ in the Holy Eucharist.” and the vision “To inspire a movement of Catholics across the United States who are healed, converted, formed, and unified by an encounter with Jesus in the Eucharist—and who are then sent out on mission ‘for the life of the world.’” Bishop Cozzens, one of the national leaders and who led all of us priests of the Archdiocese on retreat this past week said of this Eucharistic Revival, “We want to start a fire, not a program”. We need this as recent studies have reported only about 31% of Catholics believe in the Real Presence of Jesus and perhaps about as many regularly attend Mass. We want to light the Church on fire for a new love of Jesus and the Eucharist which is truly His Body and Blood. We also want all to go deeper in the meaning, experience, and power of the Eucharist.

As we begin, it is absolutely critical to pray—to pray for God’s grace in this so that God leads us and makes our efforts fruitful. Please take some time to pray for this renewal, especially before, during, and after Mass and in Eucharistic Adoration. There is a beautiful prayer written for the renewal I bet you to pray. Thank you for your love and faithfulness to the Eucharist.

Peace,
Fr. Greg

National Eucharistic Revival Prayer

Lord Jesus Christ, you give us your flesh and blood for the life of the world, and you desire that all people come to the Supper of the Sacrifice of the Lamb. Renew in your Church the truth, beauty, and goodness contained in the Most Blessed Eucharist.

Jesus living in the Eucharist, come and live in me.

Jesus healing in the Eucharist, come and heal me.

Jesus sacrificing yourself in the Eucharist, come and suffer in me.

Jesus rising in the Eucharist, come and rise to new life in me.

Jesus loving in the Eucharist, come and love in me.

Lord Jesus Christ, through the paschal mystery of your death and resurrection made present in every Holy Mass, pour out your healing love on your Church and on our world. Grant that as we lift you up during this time of Eucharistic Revival, your Holy Spirit may draw all people to join us at this Banquet of Life. You live and reign with the Father and the Holy Spirit, God forever and ever.

Our Lady of Guadalupe, Mother of the Eucharist, Pray for us.
