A few more details on what this is (see also the video on our weekly email). A Corpus Christi procession is where the faithful process with the Most Holy Eucharist (The Body of Christ which in Latin is “Corpus Christi”). The clergy carry the Eucharist in a monstrance with servers accompanying. The point is to go outside the church with Jesus to proclaim to the world our faith and love of the Eucharist. It is an act of love and devotion and prayer to Jesus in the Eucharist and a way to evangelize and bless the neighborhoods around us. For the lay faithful, they simply walk behind the Eucharist prayerfully, perhaps singing, and they receive multiple blessings along the way. To participate, you really only need to be able to walk. We will be walking at a slow pace about one hour, with four stops along the way. Nothing too strenuous. However, if you can’t do that, you can also remain in the church and there will be adoration and music there as well. Families with young children are invited to bring along strollers or wagons to include little ones in our procession. Decorating strollers or wagons for the event is also encouraged. And families with children who made their First Holy Communion this year are encouraged to have the children participate while wearing their First Communion attire.

Following the procession there will be a parish picnic (about 12:30am). Bring a lawn chair and join us in the Circle Drive. The Knights will provide burgers and hot dogs. We'd love for you to bring a side or dessert to share! We encourage you to RSVP (so we get food right) at popolathe.org/corpus-christi. During the picnic, enjoy music from Mikey Needleman!

Why participate? #1 To express your love for Jesus in the Eucharist. #2 To receive many blessings. #3 To show Olathe that the Most Holy Eucharist is worth our time and effort and love. I very much hope we get a huge crowd to participate. It will make people wonder what those Catholics think is so important. It might lead them to join us someday! I highly encourage you to participate if at all possible. Thank you!

Peace,

Fr. Greg
